Little things...

I remember from childhood:

  • I remember missing the bus and my Grandpa would jump to my rescue to get me to school on time.
  • I remember reading One fish, Two fish, Red fish, Blue fish to my baby brother, who turned 20 this year.
  • I remember being allergic to ketchup.
  • I remember having chicken pox in 2nd grade.
  • I remember in 4th grade the first day of school my mom made me wear a dress and I couldn't play on the playground with the rest of the kids, it was also the last year I was forced in a dress.
  • I remember going to movies on holidays like Christmas and Easter and being surprised they were open when nearly everything else was closed.
  • I remember my mom buying my sister and I, a Ronald McDonald doll (so hideous) when my now 24 year old brother was born.
  • I remember staying at my Grandma's house and pretending to be asleep in the morning while they watched the morning news.

Now the reason I'm remembering all of these things... There was a poem on my Grandma's wall. I read this poem over and over and over. It made so much sense to me as a little kid and I enjoyed the dual meanings. It has crossed my mind in the past and for some odd reason it has again. So here it goes!!!!

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody. There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

I've heard that poem before. Very clever! And I loved reading your memories!
