Ya know, I firmly believe things happen in their own time if they are going to happen at all. I just can't quite grasp the why of it all. lol Hubby and I have made a decision to live the life of poor students. Of course my schooling isn't going to take place until this littlest one is older, but nonetheless, I will be finishing school later. Hubby, on the other hand is going back in the fall. He has his courses all lined up and is ready to start. He was in school when we got together and just never finished. Life got in the way. No, I am not complaining, it's just what happened. Now, four children later, he is on his way. Originally, he set out to be a lawyer. Great idea, wrong time.
He wound up working in the casino business. He worked his way on up from a valet to security, then on up to a regulatory gaming position. It paid the bills and I was able to quit my job as a preschool teacher and stay home. This remained the same until we decided I wanted a lil grass dancer, I, of course needed insurance and while we couldn't afford to pay out of pocket, I did happen upon a job that would give me insurance in 3 months time. Perfect! Voila! I was now an auditor at a casino down the road. I've always been great with numbers, so this sounded like fun and it worked out perfectly until baby came, when I quit to stay home. Hubby on the other hand was working at a casino an hour and a half away!!! The one down the road wouldn't pay nearly enough for survival LOL After 8 years in casino work, hubby had major burnout and decided he was going to finish that degree he had put on hold many years ago, so he quit and went to school. I had also been offered a job at the casino again so I was breadwinner. woohoo go me!!! :oP It was also time to get Araquin's partner in crime here. I have my children in pairs, noah's ark type of dealy ;) So this also seemed to work out perfectly.
Fast forward a bit, my hubby was still schooling, but wanted to get a job before I had our final addition to the family, so I could quit. The original plan was if he didn't get a job, I would return back to work and he would stay home with the baby. It came time for me to go back and after 3 phenomenal interviews and no jobs to prove it, we re-evaluated. Does he really want to work in casinos for the rest of his life? Do I really want to work in casinos the rest of mine?
The answer is simply NO! So what to do??? Let's put our thinking caps on... A total moment of aha! Go back to school, get back on track and finish what you started. Easy enough. So hubby is off to sign up for school, he made the deadline by 2 days. He was accepted the day of class sign ups. Now we wait. It's working out just as planned. Just 10 years later.
So that's where we sit. It's simply amazing to me how 10 years ago, there is absolutely no way we could have pulled it off and now with four kids in tow, we somehow magically can??!? Makes me scratch my head a bit. Timing is everything.
